Specializing in conceptual and portrait photography, Cecey Karoki is the artist behind Halisi Visions, a creative space dedicated to transforming ideas and stories into striking imagery. Based in Washington, D.C., she’s built a dynamic portfolio through client assignments and collaborative partnerships, developing a signature style that blends conceptual planning with editorial-inspired execution through color and dynamic composition.

Born in Silver Spring, Maryland and raised in Kenya in her developmental years, Cecey's perspective is shaped by her cross-cultural experiences. Her creative journey began in front of the camera as a model, where she experienced both the excitement and vulnerability of being photographed. Those experiences ultimately led her to photography and shaped the way she works today.

Growing up with little exposure to artistic paths or examples of creativity as a tool for self-expression, photography became a way for her to better understand herself and translate emotions, ideas, and identity into visual form. Drawing from her background in modeling, she intentionally creates collaborative, comfortable environments where talent feels seen, empowered, and free to express themselves authentically.

Driven by her appreciation for self-expression and her love for collaboration, she approaches every project with curiosity and intention, creating imagery that not only tells compelling stories but also encourages others to embrace their own authenticity and creative expression.

BECOMING HALISI VISIONS

The word "Halisi" is of Swahili origin meaning "real, authentic, and genuine."



Cecey created the alias in 2020 as a reflection of both her identity and the values that shape her work. She wanted to incorporate Swahili, one of the primary languages in Kenya, as a way of inviting others into a meaningful part of her world and honoring the cultural experiences that have influenced her perspective.
